I'm bad at this..

Nothing new here..but I haven't been on here in a while!  I will just start filling you in though!

I had an AMAZING time at home for Thanksgiving.  Loved seeing all of my friends and family!  Since then it has been a very busy week with finalizing projects and papers and getting everything turned in.  Tomorrow is the beginning of dead week which means that there is supposed to be nothing due in this next week before finals.  Luckily, I don't have anything to do this week except studying for finals that start in 1 week!

I cannot believe how fast this semester has gone by.  It feels like just yesterday I was packing up the car and moving in.  And since then I have definitely had my fair share or ups and downs but I've gotten through them and I am here today.

This weekend I went home with my friend Rebecca!  I had such a great time just hanging out and vegging all day, and meeting all of her friends and family back at home!

I get to go home again in 10 days!  Guess who is excited!  Apparently my roommate is moving out as well..I haven't heard anything other than the information from my CA.  So we will see if she does.  I think having a new roommate..anyone but her is going to be fabulous!

I think this is all that I had to update about!  If I forget something, maybe you'll hear from me again this week!

So..the countdown has really begun.  In exactly 7 days I WILL BE AT HOMEEEE! I am still excited, can't you tell?!

However in the amount of time that I have left before next Saturday morning, there is so much going on.  To name a few things, I have to come up with a lesson plan.  The first one that I have ever written.  The hard part: It has to incorporate technology in some way.  Eeeeek.  For elementary aged kids?!  I'm having trouble coming up with ideas.  If you have any, please feel free to let me know! I have a Math exam next Friday..let's not even get into that whole mess.  It's still stands for Mental Abuse To Humans...just sayin'.  I have an issues paper to do for Children's Literature, and I haven't even looked at what I am supposed to do for that paper..I guess I should get on that..ooops.  Bad student alert.  And finally, the football game on Friday night!  It's going to be a chilly one..it might even be time to break out the winter coat.  I am sure that there is much more to do, however I would get bored of reading about those things so I'll spare you the details.

Ames, Iowa got our first snow of the year!  At first it was just a mixture of rain and snow, and then it stopped.  However I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up the next morning and looked out the window to an accumulation! I love snow..it's pretty..but that just means that it is going to get colder still!  This winter is going to be an interesting one, especially walking around this huge campus.

What else can I update you all on?!  Oh, at semester I will finally be moving back up to the third floor! Another exciting thing to look forward to.  I can't wait to be able to sleep through the night and not have to deal with the pleathera (spelling?!) of random men in room.  Long story short, I will be a much happier person.  And that's all we're going to say on this subject.

Last weekend the girls and I went home to Kaci's house for a girls night!  On Friday night we went to her sister's play, The Sound of Music.  It was a very good show!  That night we also rented the movie Water for Elephants.  Excellent movie!  You should all rent it.  We woke up the next morning, Saturday, had breakfast and made our way back to Ames for the football game!  We won too!  They are back on track so let's hope they can do it again next Friday night!  Then had dinner and took naps..and had a chill Saturday night.  I love my friends! :)

I took a break from writing and called my Momma!  Can't wait to see her next week!  Well, I guess it's time to put some sweats on, brave the cold, and grab some brunch! I'm hungry! Oh, and I will leave you with some pictures of this week!

Two in one week?!

I GET TO GO HOME IN 24 DAYSSSSSSSSS!  I am excited...can't you tell?!  I am VERY excited to not have to deal with a roommate for a week, have my bed for a week, have my own bathroom, and of course fight with my brother for a week!  Oh, and my puppy!  Haha, can't forget him!

I am currently babysitting...the kids are in bed and the laundry is going..I feel at home again!  I am really beginning to dig the whole free laundry thing..where the dryers actually work..who would have thought?!  Of course you also can't forget a home cooked meal! Delicious!

I feel like a lot has happened in 3 days.  But yet it hasn't.  Oh, the exciting life of a college student.  The things you see on campus is enough to keep me laughing all day.  Of course you can't forget all the dumb things that I say and do on a daily basis keep everyone else laughing as well.

From left to right: Libby, Chelsea, Rebecca, Kaci, and Katie
This weekend was homecoming!  Nothing too exciting going on though.  Friday night I got to see some fireworks that were set off in central campus for mass campaniling.  Vomit.   Oh I guess I should mention what exactly it is.  Mass campaniling is when you and your sweetheart kiss under the clock as the bells toll midnight.  Tradition states that you are not a true Iowa stater until you've done so.  Again, vomit.  Haha, that wont be happening anytime soon..as of right now.  Friday night I made dinner for all the girls!  That is a picture of us to the left there.  We had a gluten free dinner (and wine party) for Kaci.  I didn't make everything by myself, everyone pitched in.  My name that night, and it continues to be, Mama Libbs.  Haha, love them! :)  We will definitely be doing that again!  Oh, and I could not use the bottle opener right..evidence is below.  It was still consumable though!

Saturday we had a football game to attend!  Pictures are below!  We inevitably lost against Texas A&M.  At least we started the game out winning!  Hey, it's the bright side right?!  This week at work has not been too bad..we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Friday night we were persuaded to go to a haunted forest in town...NEVER AGAIN.  We got chased by clowns, pinned against the wall by guys with chainsaws, characters popped out at you..oh and they came up behind you.  This is a picture of us all before we went!

Katie, Kaci, Courtney, Mallory, Libby
As you can see I have really developed friendships with these girls!  They are my loves! :)

Sunday I went to church and lunch, and did a lot of homework.  I got to Skype with the best roommate ever and of course one of my best friends, Mary, and Kristen also made an appearance.  I CANNOT WAIT until Thanksgiving to see them, and of course hit up our usual restaurant, El Niagra where shenanigans will ensue!  That night I babysat.  Ahhh children are adorable and so innocent!  Love them already!

I have gotten three tests back this week!  I am happy to report that I got a 45/50 on my Childrens Literature midterm and a 39/40 for my technology in the classroom class.  My math test...well that's a whole other story.  MATH stands for Mental Abuse To Humans.  Just thought I would throw that one out there!

So, now that I have taken a large chunk out of my homework time..I suppose it would be good to get back to that!

Until next time...

Well, well, well!

Things have taken a turn for the interesting!  Well, I couldn't tell you why..because I don't really know.  But I am loving school!  I have made so many amazing friends and can't wait to become even closer.  This morning I was really missing home.  I just need a break and time away from here.  I can't wait for my Thanksgiving break!  Less than 4 weeks now! :)  I can't wait to sleep in my own bed and see my puppy!

I know that I need to update this more!  I am very bus with work, and my school work, and I have also taken up babysitting now!  The kids that I will be watching are so adorable and I cannot wait to get to know them and spend time with them.  I joined this program from Salt Company called student exchange.  Instead of getting paid for babysitting we get a meal with the family and get to do our laundry for free!  And that is quite okay with me! :)

I have a blog? Who knew!

Well, I am beginning to realize that I really stink at this whole blogging thing.  Although, it has been a crazy couple of weeks!  Just so much to do, lots of homework, and of course who could forget work?!  Last week was just not a good week.  We all have them and it just seemed to drag on and never end.  There were lots of problems with my room/roommate, but we've talked and hopefully everything is going to go for the better from here on out!  I'm trying to have a good lookout on things.

Saturday we had a football game..and it was not good. However, I did get to take a picture with CY!

This last week was not as busy, but lots of homework to do and catch up on!  Midterms are already here!  I can't believe the time has flown so quickly.  It will be Thanksgiving break and then Christmas before we know it.

Well I guess that this is going to be a shorter post.  I have to start getting things together and ready for when my Mom and Babcia come today!  I'm sooooo excited to see them both!

I'm old!

It is official..I am 22 years old!  I am so old here compared to everyone else..well some of the people that I have met and started becoming friends with!  But oh well!

My bfffffff came to Iowa for the weekend!  Hey Kel!  I am SO excited to have her here with me for the weekend.  Haha, we are having a lazy day!  This morning we went to go and grab something to eat at the dining hall, Seasons, and then we went and took a walk around campus.  I showed her where some of my classes are and one of my lecture halls that is huge, but apparently she had already seen it, but I didn't remember that.  We saw a wedding being set up in central campus, so sweet, but puke, at the same time!

Last night I went out with some of the new friends that I have made!  I had so much fun..and tonight Kelly and I are going out to have a little fun!

Nothing much to report on the school front.  This week was a busy week, but other than that the homework has been in a lull for now.  Which is a good thing and I am not complaining!

Well, we've watched a movie already and now we're starting Justin Bieber!  One of the amazing birthday presents from her!  She spoiled me! Below is a picture of what she got me!

I have the best bffff in the world!

We Beat Iowa!

Today was a fabulous day!  Iowa State beat University of Iowa for the first time in 4 years..and I was there!  I was a great game to watch!  The score was 44-41 and we won it in triple overtime, what a big deal!  So besides winning we got there early to find good seats on the lawn, which was a good thing because the stadium eventually held 56, 085 people for the game.  Nuts!  Football is a big deal here, like I've said before, but this game was bigger than Green Bay vs. Bears.  More like the Superbowl when two rival teams are in it..in fact it kinda was the Superbowl, but for Iowa alone.  Anyway, you all can enjoy the pictures!  I'll tell what each one is..just so you know.  The first one above is a picture of the girls and I waiting to get into the stadium.
The picture above is of the scoreboard showing that we in fact did win!  This picture is not mine, it's Maleah's.  But I stole it! :)

All of the Cyclone fans storming the field just after we won the game!!  This picture is also a picture that Maleah took.

This is Maleah!  Haha, she lives across the hallway from me..sadly I'm moving from that room today..more on that later!

The football team right before the game.
So, as you can see, it was an eventful day!  Only bad thing was that we were sitting outside all day..so none the less we all got sunburned.  My nose is crispy red!  And there is a faint I on my face from my face paint..Maleahs I is much much more distinct!

So anyway, I talked about moving from my room.  Everything got worked out eventually and now I've got a room.  I still wish that it was on 3rd floor..but I will survive.  I will probably end up spending my time now in the den..that used to be my room on 3rd floor where the nice new leather couches will eventually be..haha kind of an inside joke.  But anyway it all should be good!

Now it's time to write my two papers..and then start the move two floors down!

It's Moving Time.

Get it? The song..it goes like "it's closing time.." etc..I don't really know that words to it and I know that it is not from the band Three Doors Down..I just remember hearing it in the Friends With Benefits movie and for some reason it decided to pop into my head..and now of course it wont leave.  Hahaha I think Kelly is the only one who is going to understand what in the world I am talking about.

Anyway, about moving time.  It's official.  I finally have a permanent place to live on campus.  Housing options opened up for those in interim housing today, at 6am.  So I was up at 6 to get a room!  Unlucky for me though I have to move by Sunday. I have so many things to do though before Sunday with work and school work!  However I got very lucky and I am only moving two floors down and staying in the same building. I am grateful for that since I have now made friends here and am now on the executive board for the dorm as a whole.  But it is closer to the laundry room so I don't have to carry heavy clothes up like 6 or 7 flights of stairs..that's how many it is to actually get into the basement where all the machines are, redonk!

The only thing that really stinks is that now I am finally all settled in with a routine and what not and I have pictures up on the wall, that I just hung up..that now all have to come down and get re hung up..Okay well I took a break from writing and now things are going downhill with this rooming situation..I will have to update later..

Football!

Today's the first football game...and it's pouring.  Somehow I do not see how this is going to work out or how my attitude is going to stay positive while sitting out there.  But I am going to try and make the best of it!  Football seems to be a big thing here at ISU..sports in general actually.

I am grateful to have a day off on Monday!  I've got A LOT of things that I need to get done.  The to-do list seems to just keep growing and growing.  It consists mostly of uneventful things, like homework and papers that need to be completed for this week.  I am really enjoying my Children's Literature class..it will probably end up being one of my favorites.  I get to read children's books all day..how bad could it be?!  Of course there's papers and book reviews to go along with them..but it's not difficult.  Math will be the death of me this semester. I feel so dumb in that class..It is definitely not just me that doesn't understand it...to the tutor I go.  Well  not yet..I am going to start out with the Math help room and then if I still don't get it hen I'll get a tutor.

Speaking of tutoring..and mentoring.  Work is going much better!  We had an employee meeting Thursday afternoon to find out the basics of what the advisors want and how they want things to be organized..and it's going to be more work in the beginning but will start to taper off..and then basketball season starts and I'll be working with those guys and it starts all over again.  As long as my guys are doing their work I can sit there and study and do my own homework.  Which hey, the way that I see it is that I am getting paid to babysit them, keep them on task, and do my own homework.  Of course it doesn't hurt that there's a few good looking guys thrown in the mix..I should stop now, haha.  My mom is going to start calling me a jersey chaser now.

Well, the girls and I are going to watch Something Borrowed now!  I am so buying this movie when I get a chance.

Stressssssss.

I've realized that I am not very good at this whole blog thing.  I love reading other peoples' writing, but my own not so much.

Let us just get down into the nitty gritty right away.  I HATE DOCTORS OFFICES.  I feel like 1) I am playing phone tag with them..which is a little ridiculous, 2) this pulmonologist office that I am dealing with is non-sense.  There are 6 different doctors in the practice and I have to wait and wait for one to come back into the office in order to get anything accomplished.  Maybe if the receptionist took my message down right the first time we would not be going through this.  From the CT Scan that I took before I left town they say that I still have "abnormalities" in my left lung.  The doctor believes that it is still pneumonia.  Okay fine.  He didn't give me another antibiotic, but he wants me to repeat another CT Scan in early September.  Okay, give me a date.  But he didn't.  Seriously.  I don't understand how this pneumonia is going to go away on its own, especially because you are not giving me another antibiotic and want me to repeat a scar for the 3rd time.  Hopefully there are some much more competent people working here in Ames.  But its NBD (no big deal) because hey, it's not your money paying for another scan.

Moving on. Today was NUTS.  Absolutely nuts.  It is kind of like all the professors came together this weekend and decided to pile a ton of work on us.  I wouldn't say that I am "stressed" yet..but maybe a little scatter brained from being thrown back into the university life and trying to keep my life in order at the same time. I was either at school or doing homework or mentoring from 8-5 today..just like a full time job.  I'm used to that..but not when I am doing Math that is supposedly for elementary students and it feels like it is way above my head even.  There is no way that this math is for them.  Just sayin'.

This weekend I stayed in a mostly did a ton of homework..but I knew I would need to in order to stay ahead of the game for this week.  Especially with work starting.  I officially had my first day as a mentor.  I ended up just being a mentor unlike I originally thought, tutoring starts in a couple days. But let me tell you, my first day of mentoring was very overwhelming.  Picture this, Iowa State, Division 1 school, 30-40 BIG..and I mean BIG  scary looking men in one room..with small little me.  I mean I am not the tiniest thing out there..but compared to them, they would be able to squash me like a bug if I did or said something they didn't like.  Moving along..mentoring is going to be interesting.  It is going to be a lot of work in the beginning, just trying to get their schedules down and all of their things organized...and then there are the things like the talking back and looking at me funny.  I can be mean.  And I will be mean if I have to be, and they do not want to see that side of me.  I have got a group of 4 football guys work with and so far, they're doing alright.  If they do the work they are supposed to we'll have a goo semester working together!  We'll see what tomorrow night brings after that mentoring session, with another group of 4 football guys.

I went on another mind clearing walk in the park tonight.  It was not a very pretty sunset tonight, but you can tell that it is definitely starting to get darker sooner.  Fall is right around the corner!  I'm pretty excited for it.  That just means it's a little bit cooler and I can actually sleep with my blankets!  Right now it is just way too hot a muggy to sleep with them all on!

So now I think that I need to start on some more homework that is due on Wednesday..got tomorrows stuff done over the weekend, thank goodness.  My mind is way to tired to start on anything that takes a lot of thought and effort.  Unfortunately I have also caught the college bug again of staying up late and getting little to no sleep.  Opps.  I'll have to work on this.  Sorry for the scattering of this post..i'm tired!

Things will be alirght...

Today was the first day of classes here at Iowa State! Just like every other school started today, but today was good for me!  I'm starting to learn that I just need to take a leap of faith and get out there and meet people..and just be that bubbly Libby that they would eventually get to know.  I don't know what it is with me and being shy..who taught me to be like that?  My mother is the social butterfly..well whatever it is, I am learning to get over it.

So like I said classes started today..and as of 2pm my schedule was FINALLY finalized.  What a whirlwind couple of days with that.  Now I have learned to definitely not wait until the last few days before class to register.

I went on an amazing, mind clearing walk tonight after dinner with a girl that lives next to me.  We ran into such a beautiful sunset..I will share:

I'm glad that she asked me to go with...got to know her a little bit more and it got my mind off of missing home!  I know I will be fine here..I'll make more best friends and we'll be friends for a lifetime!

I guess its back to the reality of homework now..ON THE FIRST DAY! Oh well, it feels good to jump back into a routine.

Until next time..

Oh the Adventures.

I decided that making a blog may come into good use while I am here at Iowa State.  Possibly a good reflection tool or a venting mechanism.  I didn't make this blog to tell all my problems to the world but if you want to read about my life, well then you're in the right place.

I'll do some more posting soon.
